OJVA has a unique and extended tryout process. 

On the day of tryouts, we will select a group of athletes for each POD. Each of the players selected on tryout day is guaranteed a position on a team. Then coaches will take the next 4 to 6 weeks evaluating players while training them. Over these practices, OJVA coaches are able to get a better idea of the athlete's work ethic, coachability, development, and attitude. 

Coaches can then place athletes on a team where we feel they fit best.

OJVA does not guarantee any athlete placement on a team in advance. Teams are NOT selected before tryouts. That is why they are called "tryouts".

To try for OJVA, you must have the following completed: 

► OJVA tryout registration + $30 fee

You can register for OJVA tryouts through our website. Follow the registration link that corresponds to your athlete's age group. 

You will be prompted to pay the nonrefundable $30 tryout fee. 

► USAV membership through CEVA 

Athletes must have a valid 2024-25 USAV Junior Membership to be eligible to try out. Click here to purchase. 

There are two types of memberships available:

• CEVA Girls Team Tryout Membership - $15.00  If you are not sure if your daughter will make a team, this is the one to buy. If she does make a team, you will need to upgrade it to the full purchase price of $65.00. If she doesn’t make a team, you have only paid the tryout portion and have not lost the other $50.00.
• CEVA Junior 17 & Under Player - $65.00  This is the full membership. It is non-refundable, even if she doesn’t make a team.

Have this filled out and ready to turn in at the start of the tryout process. 

If your athlete accepts their spot in the OJVA POD, a start-up fee of $625 is due at the completion of tryouts.
